Considered by many to be the apex of luxury grooming products for the bearded man, Beardbrand has built a reputation for themselves as the touchstone of quality beard care. From their awesome youtube channel with an encycleopedia of knowledge to keep your mane on point, to every single product that carries their logo, quality is the name of the game with this company. Their white line is considered their entry level offering, sold exculsively at Target stores, these products offer an easily accessible way to get a feel for this high end brand without breraking the bank. So is the beard oil in their white line worth checking out? Lets have a look and see...
As I become more of an old guy, I'm less embarassed to open products in the store and smell them before I buy them (I know, I know...gross), but this I purchased sight unseen (or is that scent unsmelled?). I figured from the name Lumber Yard, this would be your typical woodsy, amber-with-a-hint-of-musk, "rugged" type of scent...I could not have been more wrong. The acuracy of this name is beyond spot on...one smell conjures up images of buying lumber (not just plain old wood, but real honest to goodness 2x4s and plywood) from the lumber section of your local hardware store, and then ripping them on your table saw as sawdust coats your shirt front and forearms. My wife might have said it best when she mentioned that it reminded her of her grandpa's workshop (Grandpa's workshop would have been a pretty accurate name for this oil, indeed)...for me it conjures images of helping my stepdad saw poplar planks to make stretcher bars...your mileage may vary, but I'd be willing to bet it stirs up some images of building something with a father figure, in your younger days. My only beef with this particular scent is that it tends to dissapate fairly quickly, but depending on how into having your beard smell like sawdust you are, you might not have any issues with this.
How does it work?
Viscosity is above average, this helps coat your beard nicely, and doest require much reapplication throughout the course of the day. In terms of conditioning it does an exceptional job leaving your beard feeling soft and managable all day long (a comb will still glide right through your beard like you just applied this oil even hours after the fact), not only that, but it leaves your skin feeling great (as somebody who uses a variety of face oils, I can say without a doubt that this stuff keeps your face feeling just as nice as some of the most high-end serums).
The bottom line.
Beardbrand makes some outstanding products, their beard oil is no exception, some of their higher end lines are not the most budget friendly products that you can have in your arsenal, but with this particular offering, pretty much anybody with a beard and a Target store nearby can experience the awesomeness of Beardbrand oil.
