The other day, I was running low on one of my go-to beard oils (I try and roatate a different oil every week), and I knew this would be a great opportunity to try something new. This is a brand that recently popped up on my radar after seeing them reviewed on YouTube. I was pretty impressed with what I read about this company on this website, but will this oil earn a place in my regular rotation? Lets give it a try and find out.
Apex is described as peppermint and pine...and that is exactly what you get with this oil. It's sort of weird, because every time I try it, I'm sure that I smell more peppermint than pine (or vise-versa), and then the next time I apply it, I find the exact opposite to be true. The scents seem to be all natural, and of a good quality. Not too strong, but that's not really a problem...it's just a really pleasant, fresh scent that doesn't overwhelm.
How does it work?
Boasting a simple ingredient's list, this is a very straightforward oil. Viscosity is middle-of-the-road, it works perfectly into your beard and really seems to get right to the skin (in fact, my only real complaint with the performance of this oil is that I wish it were a bit thicker so that it might last longer between applications). I gave my beard a trim the other day and went a bit shorter on the sides than I normally do, I noticed that this oil does exceptionally well there, and would highly recommend it for men with shorter beards. Conditioning qualities are quite impressive, you'll notice that it keeps your beard feeling soft for hours between applications. As an added plus, I find that the vitamin E and jojoba oil content of this product combined with it's lighter body make it a great substitute for face serum on those days when your skin is feeling extra dry...and if you clean up your neck and edges with a good old fashioned razor instead of an edger, this stuff also serves as a phenominal pre-shave oil.
The bottom line
I get the impression that this is a company that really gives a shit. From their quality, 100% organic ingredients, to their child-proof bottles, to the environmentally packaging materials they send your order in, they definitely seem to go a step beyond. Their beard oil is just a great, versitile, no-nonsense type of oil that definitely deserves a spot in everybody's regular rotation, and I'm definitely excited to check out their other offerings.
