It's no secret that I enjoy the hell out of Kingsmen products. I keep their oils in rotation, and sincerely hope that they're planning on rolling out a line of butters sooner rather than later (hint hint just in case Frank or anybody else from Kingsmen happens to read this). I've managed to collect almost their entire suite of scents (Black Knight is currently my favorite, but you really can't go wrong with any of them), one in particular that I've overlooked (until now) is King's Court, with all of the enticing scents offered on the Kingsmen webiste, it might be easy to miss one or two, but when a company produces consistant winners time and again, it only makes sense that you try them all, right? So let's give this stuff a try and see if it lives up to the lofty standards set by those that came before it.
A bit more subtle than other Kingsmen oils I've tried, this product has a great muted gourmand quality that works perfectly with any autumnal rotation. A warm calming vanilla baseline gracefully wraps itself around a creamy sandalwood with just enough of a spicy edge to conjure up images of cinammon dusted pastries cooling on the counter. While a deep, alluring fougère quality provides the launching pad for a prickly evergreen topnote that proves to be as energizing as a breath of cool mountain air. Strength is medium-minus-to-medium...present, but in no way loud. This is by far the most restrained Kingsmen scent that I have tried. There is a beautifully sophisticated quality about this oil at this particular strength level. One big drawback is that it can easily be overpowered by whatever balm/butter you choose to top it with, so make sure you go with something not so "in your face" if you want to really appreciate this product for a while after application.
How does it work?
So I've talked about how well Kingsmen oils work over and over again. From a performance standpoint, this product falls right in line with those I've tried before it. But just a quick recap for those who are just joining us. Conditioning properties are outstanding, as this product seems to penetrate my beard easily, getting down to the skin below and hydrating brilliantly. Viscosity is solidly medium, which means you may find yourself using a few more drops of this than you would other oils, and can translate to the need for a reapplication or two throughout the course of the day, but this also means that you wont experience any unpleasant greasiness, just a soft, healthy beard, and calm, itch-free skin.
The bottom line
When a company makes a top shelf product, you really can't go wrong with any scent, it's all just a matter of personal preference. Every scent in the Kingsmen lineup seems to bring its own unique personality to the party, and this product is of course no exception. A refined, sophisticated scent with just enough playfull charm to appeal to a broad range. Performance is of course just as great as all other Kingsmen oils. With the plethora of options available when it comes to beard oils, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, but you can always look to Kingsmen Beard Club to deliver a top shelf product that smells amazing!
